History

Choir was founded in 1990. Since 1998 the choir has been known as “Cantare”. Arturas Dambrauskas has become conductor and choirmaster in 2000.

 A repertoire of the choir is various - from archaic till modern music. The choir is popular between listeners of different age.

The conductor pays attention to the tradition of Lithuanian choir music, especially to Lithuanian composers (J.Tamulionis, A.Remesa, K.Vasiliauskaite and others). “Cantare” has organized a lot of concerts in the main churches of Lithuania and took part in the festivals of religious music. Choir is permanent contestant of S.Shimkus contest and also International contests in Salzburg (Austria), Savigliano (Italy), Berlin, Rugen (Germany), Gdynia (Poland).

            Cantare won:

-         The 1-st place in the International contest – festival “Mogutnyi boza” in Mogiliovo (Byelorussia) in 2004;

-         Golden diploma in the contest and festival “Cantate Domino” in Kaunas (Lithuania) in 2004;

-         The 1-st place in the VI International contest “Sudraba zvani” (Silver Bells) in Daugavpils (Latvia) in January 2005;

-         The 2-ond place and special prize for the best execution of obligatory piece of S.Shimkus “In the silent of night” in the S.Shimkus contest of choirs in October 2005.

Chorus is happy that they are as one family – they are together in happiness and sadness, they are waiting for every meeting. “We are joined by one aim  - perfection. We want to bring joy to every heart” –said chorus. The Choirmaster said that any trip and concert empowered the choir to improve performance. Therefore choir plan not only prolong concert activity but also take part in different International festivals.
